just call me Michael Moore

As I learn more and more about child birth and labor, the more it fascinates me. I can't get enough information, can't watch enough documentaries and can't help but talk about it to everyone I come in contact with. It's such a complex and simple thing.

My head is constantly spinning.

This is what I want from you.

I want to know about the experience you had with breastfeeding.

More specifically, I want to hear from the people that had troubles with breastfeeding.

I want to know if you were induced or went into labor.

I want to know if you had a C-section or natural.

I want to know if you had an epidural or pain killer free.

I want to know what the reasons were that it was difficult(milk wouldn't come in, baby wouldn't latch, etc.)

I am doing a mini study in my brain and trying to figure some things out.

After I get the response I'm looking for, I will put it all together and let you in on if my theory is correct.

Help a sista out.

1. Breastfeeding. Weaned at year. Cheaper than formula. Better for your kid. Difficult at first. Use lanolin. Mastitis sucks. Latching on was most difficult though. Lots of tears shed. go to a lactatioin specialist the first week of babies life. Helped a ton.

2. Went natural with all 3.

3. Was half-way induced with #1. A cervical cream. #2 with pitocin, it was quick and beastly but did it naturally. #3 no drugs or pit.

4. You're doing the right thing....doing your research. Take a class. Tour the hospital. Be familiar with their routine. You will have to get a heplock at Orem Comm, policy. Sucks, but that's life.

If you have any other questions, email me :)

I don't know if this helps at all, or if this is what you are looking for but I didn't have any trouble with nursing both of my girls and nursed them for their first year. I had a c-section with both of them. The first one was necessary because Brynlie was breach, so natural delivery (which was what I was hoping for) was not really an option for me. With Hallie I chose to have a c-section again. I know some people think it is horrible to have a c-section but that was the safest and healthiest way for my babies to come. Some people also think that if you have a c-section it is more difficult to nurse but that wasn't the case for me. Brynlie was super easy and figured the nursing thing out right away. It took Hallie a little bit longer but she (and I) got the hang of it. Neither one of them ever drank formula because there are so many benefits to nursing. Anyway, sorry for the long comment! Just wanted to let you know! =)

I just remember our conversation about breastfeeding at Maggie's baby shower. I'm interested to find out if your opinion has changed...
